Question: Verse number 200 in Chapter Al-Aaraf goes like this “And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytan (Satan), then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is Hearing, Knowing”. Why did Allah use His two particular names “Hearing” and Knowing” in this verse?
Answer: Scholars say Hearing and Knowing were particularly used because we are ordered here to seek refuge with Allah from Satan. And we, as humans, can’t hear or know what Satan is whispering to us, so Allah asked us to seek refuge in Him because He is Hearing and Knowing. So the conclusion is, if you can’t hear or know what Satan says, so ask refuge with the One Who sees, hears and knows Satan without Satan being able to see or hear Him; Allah, The Almighty.
