Islam is a religion of LOVE. This website is an attempt to reflect on the real, moderate and tolerant religion.

In UK, all normal banks give interest even on basic accounts. I don’t have credit card because of interest but on my basic debit card account I get about £0.01 interest every month in my bank account. I don’t use it and leave it in my bank and my intention is to never use it. Is this still haram?

The best option is to have a current account, which receives no interest and acts as a safe box for your money.. also in the UK, I know that there are several Islamic banks, which provide non-interest bearing accounts.. however, in the case where one doesn’t have access to any such options, some scholars have allowed account holders to receive the interest and then give it to charity, but never to use it for their own expenses..
And Allah knows best..
