Wa alaikum assalam sister Ayyesha, conventional insurance is considered impermissible by Sharia scholars around the world as opposed to ‘Takaful’ (the Islamic version of Insurance). However, depending on the country where the questioner lives, the advisory opinion may vary on the way to deal with it. A person already working at an insurance company in a country where there’s no Takaful companies may be given a different opinion than one who holds the same job in a country where Takful companies prevail. But in general, working at conventional insurance companies is unanimously impermissible as per most trustworthy scholars around the world.
